GV Community Energy

GV Community Energy Pty Ltd was established in 2008 as a volunteer organisation to initiate a bulk purchase agreement for 15 solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to benefit families in the Murchison area. The organisation received an overwhelming response from the community, with over 450 people attending a public meeting. This led to the installation of 501 solar PV systems, far exceeding their initial target.

The success of this community PV bulk-buy project resulted in three more projects, ultimately leading to the installation of a total of 1,700 solar PV systems and 150 solar hot water systems. Additionally, the organisation conducted 31 public seminars and workshops to raise awareness about the benefits of solar energy.

In September 2010, GV Community Energy Pty Ltd evolved into a not-for-profit company managed by a volunteer board and a team of permanent staff. They were responsible for installing a further 1,000 solar PV systems. They also conducted 55 seminars to educate the public about the benefits of solar energy.

Overall, GV Community Energy Pty Ltd has significantly contributed to promoting the use of renewable energy in the Murchison area and beyond. Their efforts have resulted in installing many solar PV and hot water systems. Their public seminars and workshops have helped raise awareness about the importance of using sustainable energy sources.
