Australian telecommunications giant Telstra is setting up a new division tasked with further improving energy efficiency within the company and rolling out more solar across the organisation.
Hundreds of community members from across Australia will gather in Brisbane next week for a first-of-its kind three-day event promoting a clean energy future for Australia.
Claire O’Rourke, National Director for event organiser Solar Citizens, said Solar Supercharge will spark the next phase of a grassroots, Australia-wide campaign to put solar and renewables at the top of the agenda in the lead-up to the 2016 election.
“Poll after poll demonstrates a strong and enduring support for renewable energy from everyday people across all political persuasions,” Ms O’Rourke said.
Solar Citizens calls on the Qld Government to remain firm in its commitment to support Queensland households that have chosen to invest in solar to take control of rising power bills.
National Director Claire O’Rourke said the Palaszczuk Government was voted in with a commitment to a fair price for solar homes owners, which is something 420,000 Queensland solar families support. A cut in the solar tariff would be a huge step backwards for the Sunshine State.
Telstra has switched on the largest grid-connected solar power system the company has ever deployed, in a move that is expected to herald the adoption of more solar PV and battery technology across its infrastructure portfolio.
