The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has announced it is providing support for a project examining shared solar electricity generation and energy storage capacity in the suburbs of metropolitan areas.
The South Australian government had been congratulated for its commitment to adopting a target of zero net emissions (carbon neutrality) by 2050.
With over 1.4 million households that have solar installed, Australia has more individual households with rooftop solar than any other country in the world.
The South Australian Government has adopted a target of zero net emissions by 2050, as recommended in a report by the Low Carbon Economy Expert Panel.
The panel comprises former Federal Liberal leader John Hewson, ClimateWorks Chief Executive Anna Skarbek and Australia National University Associate Professor Frank Jotzo and was set up to invite businesses to have their say on the state’s new low-carbon strategy.
