The Clean Energy Council’s (CEC) revised Approved Solar Retailer scheme has been given an official boost, with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) announcing it has granted reauthorisation of the scheme for five years.
Fossil fuel divestment is gaining traction; with 430 institutions and 2,040 individuals across 43 countries, representing USD $2.6 trillion in assets, committing to abandoning investments in fossil fuel companies.
A new report from Arabella Advisors states institutions and individuals that have pledged to both divest and invest in clean energy, such as wind and solar power, collectively hold $785 billion in assets.
Australian battery storage provider Redflow has dropped its product cost below grid price, allowing it to “beat” grid parity.
Through technological improvements and a strong manufacturing relationship with global scalable manufacturing company Flextronics, Redflow says that it has decreased its zinc-bromide (ZBM) battery costs by 50 per cent.
ACT Minister for the Environment Simon Corbell says a review of the Territory’s roof-top solar feed-in tariff initiative proves the program has been a success.
“The ACT went from less than 1000 connections prior to the start of the scheme in 2009 to 10,175 FiT-supported connections with a capacity of 26.0 MW in operation today. These installations are spread right across Canberra in all established suburbs,” Mr Corbell said.
