The Victorian Government has announced three building companies will develop energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable homes for sale in Melbourne’s high-growth suburbs.
Minister for Energy Lily D’Ambrosio recently announced $2.18 million for Stockland, Metricon Homes and SJD Homes as part of a Zero Net Carbon Homes pilot designed to encourage the construction of high-quality, energy-efficient houses.
The long-awaited special report on the science underpinning the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to 1.5℃ has been released today by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It tells us that hitting this goal will be challenging, but not impossible. And it highlights the benefits of hitting the target, by pointing out that global warming will be vastly more damaging if allowed to reach 2℃.
Sydney’s inner west solar network has received a boost after local student leaders joined the solar in schools movement.
The Sydney Student Leader Coalition (SSLC) is a collective of high school students from inner west schools advocating for change in their communities. The Coalition is partnering with Inner West Council to get rooftop solar for local schools.
Two of the biggest solar farms Australia has seen so far are planned for Balranald in rural NSW. The 255 MW Sunraysia Solar Farm is due to begin construction shortly. The $350 million project should generate enough energy to power around 50,000 homes.
