Australian energy storage company Redflow has announced the commissioning of a 660kWh battery system in South Australia.
The energy storage unit consists of 60 ZBM flow batteries housed in a shipping container form factor that also incorporates system control and monitoring hardware.
Flow batteries work by pumping two solutions separated by a membrane in one direction for charging and the other for discharging.
IKEA has announced a solar installation for its new Las Vegas store is complete and once commissioned, will be the largest single-use retail rooftop solar array in the state of Nevada.
Consisting of 3,620 solar panels, the array will generate approximately 1,750,000 kWh of electricity annually for the store; enough to power 166 homes and offsetting 1,207 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) a year.
Panasonic Corporation’s “100 Thousand Solar Lanterns Project” is now halfway to its 2018 goal, having distributed more than 50,000 lights.
The project, which began in early 2013, seeks to distribute 100,000 solar powered lights to communities in developing nations. The solar lanterns are primarily distributed for use in places where people gather, such as schools, health centers, and meeting places.
