The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) is committing $100 million in loan finance to assist South Australia’s home battery rollout. The loan will cover upfront costs of home battery installation not met by existing state subsidies.
A new trial could see NSW homes powered by gas produced from renewable energy. Gas distribution company Jemena has announced a $15 million partnership with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to convert wind and solar energy into hydrogen gas. The fuel will feed in to Jemena’s NSW gas network.
One of two large-scale grid-connected batteries in regional Victoria is close to completion. Ballarat’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is now undergoing a final testing phase. It will then be ready to help Victoria meet peak summer demand. The 30 MW/30 MWh storage facility can power more than 20,000 homes for one hour during critical peak demand.
