Alex Turnbull, son of former PM Malcolm Turnbull, says the federal government’s energy policy chaos is bad news for consumers.
Now a Singapore based hedge fund manager of his own firm, Turnbull previously spent five years working at Goldman Sachs trading in energy company assets.
The Federal Government will continue to support the Tasmanian Battery of the Nation project, according to the state’s Energy Minister.
Energy Minister Angus Taylor says something has gone “terribly wrong” with wholesale and residential electricity prices, and it’s his job to fix it. Taylor told the National Small Business Summit in Sydney today that as the new Minister for Energy, “my first and only priority is to reduce power prices”.
July saw the biggest leap in large-scale solar accreditation since the Renewable Energy Target (RET) began in 2001. Clean energy capacity of 514 megawatts (MW) was accredited in July, according to figures released by the Clean Energy Regulator (CER). Solar power stations make up 395 MW of the total.
