MASH is a community solar bulk buy organised by Castlemaine non profit, the Hub Foundation. It aims to make high quality solar systems more affordable with discounted pricing and attractive payment options. It is open to households in Mount Alexander Shire and neighboring Shires. Two free solar panel systems will be installed on community buildings once 100 installations have been completed.

In the Victorian country town of Mount Alexander the locals are taking solar power to the people with a solar bulk buy scheme enabling residents to get solar power systems fully installed in their homes or businesses at a discounted price well below the typical retail prices.

This is the second round of the offer, the first round helped 225 residence access solar power systems at a discounted price.

The organizers of the scheme run by the Hub Foundation will again stay focused on providing value for money and are offering 2 systems to buyers, a standard system and a premium system, prices listed below.

Bulk buy scheme solar system prices
Size 2kW 3kW 4kW 5kW
Standard System Price $3,636 $4,556 $5,646 $6,486
Premium System Prices $4,048 $5,077 $6,327 $7,377

The prices shown above do not include the cost of reconfiguring electricity meters to accommodate bi-directional feed-in tariff monitoring, this is usually around $280-$350.

At this stage the systems offered do not have battery storage components however the project officer Jo Kaptein says these systems will be compatible with battery storage in the future when the price comes down, the new Tesla power wall may play a part in the storage per unit price.
