Victoria’s Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio has announced several renewable energy projects that will share in over $1.1 million worth of new community energy project grants. The funding comes under the state government’s Renewable Communities Program. The aim of the program is to support the state’s transition to a cleaner energy future.
From mid-2019, Queenslanders can choose a government-owned clean energy generator after CleanCo was formally established this week. CleanCo will boost Queensland’s renewable energy industry and also increase competition in the wholesale electricity market.
Katherine High School will get a rooftop solar installation as part of the Northern Territory government’s renewable energy plan, the Katherine Times reports. The rooftop solar installation forms part of the NT government’s $5 million Rooftop Solar in Schools program. So far, in Round One of the program, ten schools have received $1.5 million in funding to install solar panels on their roofs.
        An innovative bulk-buy solar scheme is helping low-income residents in the South Australian town of Port Pirie buy solar power systems. The program was set up by the area’s local government authorities. Port Pirie Regional Council wanted a home solar installation that residents of the area could pay off over four years at no more than $20 per week.
